Mint with an attitude

Lynnderella "Attitude Adjust-Mint"

Lynnderella “Attitude Adjust-Mint”

Today I’m wearing the second Lynnderella polish I bought at Norway Nails a couple of weeks ago. I saw this polish on Instagram about a month ago and knew I had to find it! It’s very often a nail pic triggers my desire and I just have to hunt the polish … Sometimes you get disappointed when you wear the polish your self but this time I’m not disappointed at all.

I love mint colors!

I love mint colors!

Lynnderella “Attitude Adjust-Mint” has a very sheer finish so I have layered it over two coats of mint green China Glaze “Keep Calm, Paint On”. Over that I painted two thin coats of “Attitude Adjust-Mint” and finished with top coat (HK Girl from Glisten & Glow).

My unloved ones part 2

Yesterday’s blog post was about my unloved polishes. I think everyone whos into nail polish has them. The polishes we have, don’t use, wont use but still can’t get rid of, they might come handy one day.

This trigged me, I thought,”hey, you must come up with something so you can use them”. So today’s blog post will be about those unloved ones but paired or altered into something better. But a few of them I can’t stand at all so those I just skip! My blog – my rules!

These are all the polishes.

My unloved ones

Here we go:

I started with Kicks Nail Lacquer “Miss Preppy”, a blue shade I’ve never worn. I really don’t know, I thought it would look dull or something. I decided to pair it with a unknown (no label) Models Own polish.

I started out with two coats of “Miss Preppy”. Actually, to my surprise, I liked it on it’s own!

Then I added one coat of the unknown Models Own Polish. This turned out really good, I think.

Next polish I wanted to try was Isadora “City Khaki”. A khaki green polish I’ve bought on sale but never worn. I decided to pair it with KBShimmer “Spot Sign”, a glitter topper with leopard spots!

I really don’t know why I bought this polish, when would I ever wear a khaki colored polish? This polish just say nothing to me.

But definitely more fun with leopard spots!

Next up was ESSIE “Eternal Optimist”, a vintage pinkish polish. Maybe some Rainbow Honey will cheer it up?

A nice polish, but I think it’s a “old lady shade”. Not really my cup of tea! I’ve worn it once.

Rainbow Honey “Sakura Matsuri Namesake” is a cute glitter topper that I think compemented the boring ESSIE.

Next up is a polish I so want to like, Isadora “Peachy Colada”. It’s really a pretty shade, but not on me, at least not when I don’t have a tan. Besides it will apply a little streaky. But everything gets better with a little “Fairy Dust” doesn’t it?!?

First up is two coats of “Peachy Colada”. Not a good color on me!!

Then I put some “Fairy Dust” on … an improvement.

Finally I have a Zoya polish named “Bijou”. I bought it in USA on vacation this summer but I was so disappointed when I tried it, it is so sheer … like nothing I’ve ever tried before or after. Who would have known that such a pretty shade would be such a disaster?

Zoya "Bijou", MIYO "Venus", Formula X "Solar Flare" and China Glaze China "Fairy Dust" ... what will I do with these?

I started with one coat … added second and even a third coat …

I was a bit sloppy when I made my gradient, because I had done so many swatches in a very short amount of time so I thought I’d add “Fairy Dust” on top. Every gradient becomes lovely with “Fairy Dust” 😀

A bit "Fairy Dust" added makes the gradient almost perfect!

This was a fun “project” to do. I challenge you to take your unloved polishes and make some nice manis with them. If you’re on Instagram please tag me on your photo of your manis with the hashtag #nillasunlovedchallenge

Flower nails

I have a lot of stamping plates but rarely use them 😦 so I’ve decided to do more stamped manicures in 2015. Practise makes perfect, doesn’t it?!?

For this manicure I’ve used Crows Toes “L’il miss Sunshine”, Chick Pick Polish “Golden Meadow”, a little China Glaze “Fairy Dust” (just one thin coat over green “Golden Meadow”) as a base and then stamped it with OPI “Do you have this color in Stock-holm?” . The stamping plate I used is Princess 01 from Moyou and I chose a flower pattern.

Crows Toes “L’il Miss Sunshine” is a beautiful purple shimmer polish with Microsoft flakes/shimmer that shifts in green, silver and violet blue. I have three coats on my pictures.

Chick Pick Polish “Golden Meadow” is a warm golden to olive green chrome polish. Two coats plus one thin coat of China Glaze “Fairy Dust” to add a little sparkle to match the purple.

I think this mani turned out to be very spring-like, I think of tulips when I see my nails and I just love tulips!

Spring emotions :)

A spring-like mani in the wait for spring, yes I wait for spring as early as January 😉

You can buy Crows Toes from many shops, this bottle I bought from Harlow & Co. Chick Pick Polish is only available from Kari’s shop. This particular bottle I’ve got for review/swatch.

My year in polish etc., a summary of 2014, part 3

Time to finish up my year summary, but for this third and last part it is much harder to select what to post. I think it depends on that I began to post much more frequently on Instagram this fall and I have so much more nail pics to choose from. But somehow I have to narrow it down so here we go 😀

In September I made my first order from Harlow & Co, three shades from KBShimmer

I had seen many pictures of KBShimmer shades on Instagram and was so excited to finally try them on. I can say I wasn’t disappointed, I’m very pleased with both the colors, application and finish! KBShimmer is one of my favorite brands 🙂
The shipping from Harlow & Co was really quick that first time, 3 days, but it can take longer time, due to holidays etc.

I also bought my first bottles of Foxy Paws Polish in September. It’s a Danish indie brand with really unique shades, like this bright green for example, “Ms Matronic’s Magic Mirrors”.

I wore a lot of gorgeous manicures in October.

These matte nude nails are one of my favorite manis of the whole year.

As October is breast cancer awareness month I did a pink ribbon mani. Maybe not so pretty close up but I give it to you anyway.

I also bought two shades from China Glaze’s fall collection All Aboard. This is “Choo-Choo Choose You”, it’s a duochrome shade that’s dusty purlple in the bottle and more greige coppery on the nails.

One of my favorite manis in October was done with this gorgeous aqua/teal polish from Pretty & Polished “Go with the Pisces flow”. I paired it with “My dogsled is a hybrid” from OPI and some rhinestones.

In November I bought my first bottles of Picture Polish. I’ve had heard and seen so much of this brand so I was very excited to try it on and a was very pleased. All PP shades I have tried have applied like butter and they have many gorgeous shades to choose from. In my first manicure I paired PP “Never Nude” with gorgeous duochrome Spell Polish “Uncharted Waters”.

In November I also began to use “Simply Pure Hydrating Oil” from Bliss Kiss and together with Glazed Apple Hand Cream from The Body Shop my hands and nails feel stronger and softer and they are better equiped to deal with winter.

Another gorgeous polish that I rocked in November was this stunning shade from Smitten Polish, “131 Angstrom” is a gorgeous teal glitter that’s just amazing.

I think November is dull and grey so to cheer me up I love to put on some bright colors, like this for example; Bootie Babe “Freaky Cheeky” 😀 You just got to smile when you see such a vibrant color!!

I made my version of french manicure, a gradient with Picture Polish “Lakodom” and “Grace”. Really classy if I may say so myself (and this is my blog, so I may! :D).

Laquerlicious “Lady Liberty” was on my wishlist so when Edgy Polish got a restock I was quick to order it.

In December I did a lot of snow inspired nails 🙂
Like these … Black Dahlia Lacquer “Olaf’s Snowflower” stamped with Mentality Polish “Wangari”

Or these … Mavala “Moon Grey” with Formula X “Wham!” on top. I think it looks like fresh snow on soil.

I also joined a nail art challange for the first time. The WNAC (weekly nail art challenge). The theme for December was sparkles and the designs for the month was; glitter, snow, garland, new years (you can see a summary of it here
My first design was this, Smitten “Audrey’s Rainbow” with glitter from L’Oréal “Discoball” and a white nail art pen for the bow design.

The big thing in December is of course that I started this blog! On December 12 I made my first post. I had been thinking of blogging for quite some time and finally thought “let’s do it”. So here I go … I hope at least someone reading my posts and find them enjoyable and/or usefull 🙂

Weekly nail art challenge

I’ve decided to participate in a weekly nail art challenge in December, the WNAC2014. This month the theme is sparkles and this weeks design is snow.

I created this manicure for this week. The blue is Kicks Nail Lacquer “Rain drops” and then I used Formula X “Wham!” and China Glaze “Fairy Dust”. The snowflakes are painted by free hand with white nail polish. snowflake mani
